What will you do?

In this role, you will be responsible for the daily operation of the Service Department. You will be the operational manager of an experienced team consisting of 4 to 6 technicians, 2 spare parts employees, 1 support engineer, and 1 service planner. You will be a member of the management team and will implement the company’s service strategy using the annual plan.

You will manage and optimize the service department, leading a team of technical specialists to provide the best service to customers. Your team will be the primary point of contact for customers regarding service inquiries and issues, ensuring their efficient and effective resolution. You will work closely with other departments within the company to continuously improve and optimize service processes.

Tasks in this role include:

  • Policy: Adjusting departmental plans and ensuring resources and personnel are available to execute the strategy. Identifying and converting commercial opportunities and possibilities to grow revenues from service activities.
  • Supervision: Guiding, motivating, and supervising the service team and (inter)national service technicians.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Acting as the main contact for (international) customers. This may involve handling complaints, resolving issues, and negotiating SLA contracts.
  • Process and automation of (service) activities: Improving processes within the department. Ensuring knowledge management and setting up and rolling out service level agreements.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensuring that the service meets the highest quality standards. This may include developing and maintaining standard procedures, conducting quality controls, and implementing improvements.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Keeping reports on departmental performance, such as customer satisfaction, response times, and productivity. Analyzing this data to identify trends, solve problems, and suggest improvements.

What do we ask of you?

  • You have a completed technical degree at the HBO level.
  • You have at least five years of work experience in a technical environment.
  • You have leadership experience.
  • You are willing to occasionally travel.
  • You have sufficient technical knowledge to engage with service technicians.
  • You have a commercial and service-oriented mindset.


In summary, you will receive:

  • A basic salary in accordance with the Metal and Technology Collective Labor Agreement (between €4,500 – €5,700 gross per month) plus net allowances, profit-sharing.

JD Engineers is an innovative machine builder, located in Joure and active in the corrugated cardboard and packaging industry for over 20 years. They have grown significantly by developing retrofits for existing folding and gluing machines worldwide. With a team of 45 enthusiastic, driven, and experienced employees, they develop modifications, retrofits, and software in-house, build and test machines, and provide specialized service.
