History

Founding of JD Engineers B.V. by Jasper Kruizinga and Doeke Holtrop.
Providing service for folding and gluing machines (especially Tanabe) and die-cutting machines.
Commenced development of upgrades for folding and gluing machines (version 1).

Hiring of the first employee.

Release of version 2 of the upgrades and expansion to 7 employees.

Release of version 3 and sales in the USA, Australia, and New Zealand, with an increase to 11 employees.

Collaboration with Bahmüller and development of the Turbox folding and gluing machine.

First Turbox folding and gluing machine delivered in Germany.

Now with 15 employees.

Release of version 4 of the upgrades.
Now with 19 employees.

Termination of collaboration with Bahmüller (35 machines in the market) and expanded collaboration with Tanabe to develop a new machine. Tanabe provides the mechanical machine, and JD Engineers provides the control and various sections, resulting in the new Tanabe JD BOXR.

The first Tanabe JD BOXR is sold to a customer in England.

Development of the Ejection Unit and T-Unit (for folding waterproof boxes) for the Tanabe JD BOXR.

The first Tanabe JD BOXR is sold in the USA.

First concrete plans for a new building.

A total of 10 Tanabe JD BOXRs sold.
Now with 40 employees.
Sale of a new version of the Tri-Feeder (two in the USA and one in Germany).

Opening of the new energy-neutral building in Joure at De Koevorde 1.
Development and installation of the first JD ERSX (Energy Reducing Safety Extension) solution, in this case, for a J&L machine.

25 Tanabe JD BOXR folding and gluing machines sold and installed.

The year of Corona, but also the development of the first JD ERSX on a Bobst Domino 165.
Development and sale of print adjustment for a Bobst 160A.
Development of Direct Servo drive.

Development of the JD FUZR section to produce extra-wide boxes.
Development of the Tanabe JD BOXR 3200 wide.

Further development of the new version of the Tanabe JD BOXR and Tri/Twin-Feeder.

We look back on where we came from. Starting out as ‘Two Men and a Toolbox’ in 1999 and working from a cow shed and a back bedroom, we have certainly come a long way! It’s hard to believe 25 years have gone by so quickly, but now we look forward to the next 25 years and beyond!
